Course Description

This session focuses on shaping an idea into a project that funders can understand and support. Participants will learn how to define need using evidence, data and lived experience; describe who will benefit; separate activities from outcomes; and develop a clear ask. The session also connects project design with funding readiness, including policies, budgets and monitoring expectations.

Agenda:
• Defining the need your project responds to
• Using evidence, data, lived experience and local knowledge
• Activity: describe your need clearly
• Activities versus outcomes
• Designing a focused project: what, who and how
• Clarifying the ask: amount, purpose and timeframe
• Funding readiness in context: policies, budget basics and monitoring
• Matching projects to the right funders

Who Should Attend?

Anyone developing a project idea for funding, including staff, volunteers, project leads, trustees and community organisers who need to turn an identified need into a clear proposal before starting an application.
