Do You Support Carers?

In Dorset, help is available for unpaid carers to recognise themselves as carers and access the support available to them.
15 October 2026

We know carers are everywhere, in every community, workplace, service and organisation, and many people supporting carers may not even realise that is who they are supporting.

The Dorset Two Step Carer Leaflets promote two simple actions for unpaid carers across both BCP and Dorset Council areas:

1. Let their GP practice know they are an unpaid carer

2. Register with local carers services for support

These materials are designed to be shared widely in any setting where carers may be present, including community groups, charities, food banks, faith groups, libraries, GP practices, hospitals, schools, workplaces, social groups and public spaces. If your organisation supports carers, or people who may be carers, there are copies available for you. Even if supporting carers is not your main role, there is a good chance carers are already using your service or attending your groups.

Digital copies of the leaflet and posters can be accessed here: Unpaid-Carer-Leaflet_A5_4pp_April-26_Final_Digital.pdf and Unpaid-Carer-Leaflet_A4-poster_April-26_Final_Digital.pdf

Every leaflet shared and every conversation started helps more carers find the support they need and deserve.
