The local plan will set out policies to help shape where new development takes place and support decisions on housing, jobs, infrastructure and the environment over the coming years.

Dorset Council is using the government’s new plan-making process, which includes several stages of consultation before a final plan is produced.

The first stage of the new process began on 21 September. This initial “scoping” stage focuses on identifying the important local issues the local plan should address and how organisations would like to be involved in future consultations.

The council would particularly welcome the views of voluntary organisations and those representing communities.
